2018 INERTIA INDEPENDENT LEADERSHIP AWARD! Hi everyone! I’ve been really busy the past week or so but I just wanted to take a moment to say how much I appreciate receiving the leadership award at this past awards banquet. Two seasons ago I walked into this group worried I wouldn’t make an independent group, and walked out with an array of talented, successful friends that I know will go far. I admire everyone that stood up with me for that award because they are all leaders both in example and behind the scenes, and I’m honored I stood among them. Seeing how strong the members of Inertia are is inspiring to both me and individuals who watch our performances. This group has definitely changed my life for the better, and I’ve been honored to call myself a member of Inertia Independent the past two seasons. I can’t wait to see where Inertia will go in the future! Best wishes, Alayna Brashears

2018 INERTIA INDEPENDENT MEMBER OF THE YEAR! So I just wanted to say thanks everyone for the great season! Not just for the season, but for everything else as well. The memories, fun times, friends, everything was all because of you all. They gave me member of the year award, and it was amazing! But honestly it goes out to all of you. I couldn’t do anything on that floor without all of you by my side and working with me through it. So I just wanted to say thanks for everything and we are going to keep growing and getting stronger and I hope to have everyone there with me because y’all are my family and I couldn’t have done this without y’all! See y’all in a couple months, love you!

2018 PERCUSSIONIST OF THE YEAR! Hey everyone, I just wanted to say it’s been a great season with a great show. I really enjoyed spending my last year of high school in such a fantastic group. I got my award for percussionist of the year for taking initiative and volunteering my time to help out, and that’s something that our staff values. Without an army of parents to help with equipment and truck loading, it really helps everyone out when the members take it on themselves to help out without needing poked or prodded to do it. Keep up the good work and we’ll take Open Class by storm!

2018 MOST VALUABLE WOODWIND! Hello, my name is Drew Thiesing and I am a first year member of Inertia Independent Winds. As a saxophone player, I was aware that I was joining a very high caliber group as far as woodwinds go and I was very honored to receive the award for “Most Valuable Woodwind”! I’ve very much enjoyed learning from the wonderful staff and very thankful for the many friendships I’ve made in this group and can’t wait to see what 2019 has in store!

2018 MOST IMPROVED VISUAL MEMBER! They say you only regret the chances you dont take. And at the age of 19 I can say that must be true. Because there would nothing I would regret more in this world than not finding this group. I was so honored to win the most improved visual team member award. But I would never have been able to do it without all of you. Your encouragement during practices were what got me through, and I’m forever grateful. Thank you. Each and every one of you for making this experience one of the best things that’s ever happened to me. I am so happy and honored to be a part of this amazing Inertia family. Never be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. Because you never know when you’ll fall in love with something. You never know you’re missing a piece of your life until you find it. So always walk confidently in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire. I love you all ?
